DetCon Knock Monitoring System
DetCon is designed to avoid damage to gas engines from knocking caused by changes in gas quality.
DetCon will measure the knock frequency of the combustion cycle and compare it to the preset parameters. When these are exceeded the following functions will be activated: “adjust ignition timing” (analog output), “load reduction” (digital output) and finally “engine stop” (digital output).
When the programmed parameters are exceeded, the appropriate outputs are automatically activated. Initially DetCon will retard the ignition, if knocking continues, the engine load is progressively reduced until knocking stops. If this is ineffective then finally DetCon shut down the engine to avoid damage.
